Chris DiMarco will certainly have his hands full Sunday in his pursuit to win his first major and the coveted green jacket. The Golf Channel starting about mid-day Saturday acted as though Chris was certain to choke before the day or the tournament was over. No player likes to hear any negative talk when they are playing. I must have heard fifty times about Chris not haveing a bogey since his first hole and he was aked about this every time he was in front of the press. It would be nice if the reporters would report the news instead of trying to make the news. A friend of mine was playing in the TPC the year that Ray Floyd’s caddy went ahead on the par five second hole and Raymond proceeded to hit his tee shot into his own bag and this cost him a two shot penalty. I was walking with my friend on the par five elevneth hole when I heard the news about Raymond and I asked my friend if he had heard what had happend to Floyd on the second hole and he let me know right quick that he did not want to hear any bad news about any one. These sort of things can be very distracting and the players have enough on their minds.

The golf channel also starting late Saturday and practically all nite proceeded to show all of the tournaments that DiMarco had led in and had unfortuanately lost the tournament. This seemingly done setting the stage for the same thing to happen Sunday at one of the biggest tournaments in the world. Some of this reporting is what keeps the media and athletes at odds with each other. Chris may not win the tournament, but I think his play on the golf course should be the determining factor and then the press can report on what happens after the fact and not try to influence the outcome before it ever happens.

See you on the next tee.
