KETTERING, Ohio -- Tom Watson, chasing his second major championship in as many weeks, shot a 6-under 65 to pull into a tie with Craig Stadler and Loren Roberts midway through Friday's second round of the U.S. Senior Open.
Tom Watson had seven birdies and one bogey Friday.

Arnold Palmer competitive golfing days are rapidly sifting away.

KETTERING, Ohio -- Jack Nicklaus got teary eyed again.
Nicklaus, who played an emotional final round at the British Open this month, was honored Tuesday night at Moraine Country Club in this Dayton suburb. Jeong Jang took a four-stroke lead into the weekend at the Women's British Open after a second-round 66 on Friday, while Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie fell eight shots back.
The second-round leader is seeking her first LPGA Tour victory in six years as a pro. The 25-year-old South Korean is determined to limit the distractions of leading the strongest field in women's golf, including two of its biggest names.

Ernie Els the No. 3 ranked player in the world, underwent surgery on his left knee Thursday following an incident while on a sailing vacation last week.
He will follow his doctor's advice and sit out the remainder of the 2005 campaign.
