NBC Sports will continue to televise the Ryder Cup and the Senior PGA Championship through 2014 in an agreement announced Monday.
Terms of the extension were not disclosed.
NBC has televised the Ryder Cup since 1991, when Bernhard Langer missed a 6-foot putt on the final hole at Kiawah Island to allow the United States to win back the cup. The Ryder Cup has become one of the biggest events in golf, with Europe capturing the cup seven of the last 10 times.
The 2006 matches will be held at The K Club in Ireland.
"The pride and genuine nationalism displayed by the players at the Ryder Cup makes it a unique event that sports fan can identify with as something very special," said Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Universal Sports and Olympics.
The other marquee tournament run by the PGA of America is the PGA Championship, which is broadcast on CBS.
