SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- United States Presidents Cup captain Jack Nicklaus selected Justin Leonard and Fred Couples on Monday to round out his 12-player squad for this year's event at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia.

International captain Gary Player chose Australian Peter Lonard and South African Trevor Immelman to round out his team.

PINEHURST, N.C. -- U.S. Women's Amateur champ Morgan Pressel failed to repeat her title in the Women's North & South Amateur on Sunday, losing in the 36-hole final to Ya-Ni Tseng on the third playoff hole.

Tseng won with routine par when Pressel failed to get up and down out of a greenside bunker. In 2001, Meredith Duncan became the most recent player to win both prestigious events in the same year.

WHEATON, Ill. - Jeff Overton was conceded a short par putt on the 18th hole Sunday to give him a 1-up win over Nigel Edwards, as the United States captured the Walker Cup over Great Britain and Ireland.

The U.S. team, which won by a 12 1/2 - 11 1/2 count, reclaimed the cup for the first time since 1997 when the Americans defeated the GB&I team, 18-6. GB&I had won each of the last three Walker Cups.

On the strength of his second major championship victory on Monday, Phil Mickelson moved to third in the latest Official World Golf Rankings.

Tiger Woods held on to the top spot and padded his cushion over No. 2 Vijay Singh.

Mickelson, who birdied the 72nd hole to win the PGA Championship, jumped ahead of Ernie Els. Els, who is out for the year with a knee injury, slipped to fourth.

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Phil Mickelson delivered another dramatic finish in a major on Monday, flopping a chip out of deep rough to 2 feet for a birdie on the final hole and a one-shot victory in the PGA Championship.

The putt wasn't nearly as long as his 18-footer to win the Masters last year, and there was no need to jump for joy this time.
